Opening Night Party — A Mountain Affair: Celebrating Cashiers & Its Outdoor Traditions

The Cashiers Historical Society and Opening Night Party Chairs, India King, Lisa Parrish, and Missy Budd, invite you to the most anticipated event of the season—the Opening Night Party of the annual Cashiers Designer Showhouse!
Join us at The Village Green for an unforgettable evening inspired by the Showhouse at Cashiers Lake. This special celebration honors the spirit of Cashiers—its natural beauty and cherished outdoor traditions.
Live bluegrass music by Mark Queen and friends will fill the air, welcoming you upon arrival, as painter Hampton Watts creates a masterpiece before your eyes and the experts from Brookings Fly Shop showcase the art of fly-tying. As the evening unfolds, sip signature cocktails and lounge at the bourbon bar, savor delicious cuisine, and dance the night away to your favorite soul and funk classics performed live by Liquid Pleasure.

Discover the Cashiers Greenway on a Guided Walk with WALK CASHIERS at Cashiers Lake

Join WALK CASHIERS for a guided exploration of the Cashiers Greenway Ramble and experience firsthand how Cashiers is becoming more walkable. The 2026 Cashiers Designer Showhouse, set amid the beauty of Cashiers Lake, offers a perfect example of this vision in action. Both the Showhouse and Showhouse Shops are conveniently located along the Ramble, allowing visitors to park once and stroll.
During this one-hour tour, guests will walk the 2.3 miles currently open along the planned five-mile Greenway. WALK CASHIERS guides will share stories of local history, highlighting significant landmarks and recipients of the Cashiers Historical Society’s Village Heritage Award. Proceeds from the Designer Showhouse support the Historical Society’s preservation programs, including the Village Heritage Award.
WALK CASHIERS, a partnership of the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce, Jackson County, and Vision Cashiers, enhances the Greenway Ramble through public art, educational experiences, gathering spaces, and connections to local businesses. The tour begins and ends at the Showhouse Shops in Lewis Hall at The Village Green.

Connecting in the Kitchen: A Baking Demonstration with Sister Schubert

Join Patricia "Sister" Schubert for a heartwarming afternoon of homemade baking, live roll-making, and lots of storytelling that makes you feel right at home. Known for creating the beloved Sister Schubert's rolls, Patricia will share treasured recipes and her family secrets passed down through generations.
Guests will experience the artistry behind Sister's homemade-style breads while enjoying a glass of bubbly and her signature sausage rolls — all set inside a beautiful home in the mountains of Cashiers, NC.

Shuttle transportation will be provided. Guests are asked to arrive at the Cashiers Historical Society by 1:45 p.m. for transportation to the private residence. The shuttle will return guests to the Historical Society at approximately 4:15 p.m.
Bark-To-Basket: A Live Demonstration
with Andrew Lee

This demonstration takes advantage of a narrow window in the natural calendar — the weeks when sap is actively moving through trees like poplar, sweet gum, and cedar, making bark pliable and ready to harvest. Watch as an artist works directly with poplar logs to show how bark is removed, folded, and dried as the foundation of a traditional basket. The demonstration continues with the construction phase — attaching handles, rim supports, and embellishments to a pre-formed, dried bark basket — offering a complete picture of the process from raw material to finished piece.
Andrew Lee is a professional educator with over two decades of teaching experience. His fascination with history began by finding Native American artifacts in Northwest Georgia as a young boy. He credits this time in his life as crucial in developing a deep interest in understanding past cultures.
While at the University of Georgia, Andrew met master primitive skills instructor Scott Jones. After taking Jones' flint knapping class, the fuse was officially lit.
More than twenty years later, through teaching in elementary and middle schools as well as in the correctional setting, the constant passion in Andrew's educational life has been pursuing history, including learning more about primitive skills.
His hands-on workshops and the bark baskets & stone-bladed knives that he creates are ways that he expresses this love of history and nature

Guests will gather, enjoy a delicious lunch, and take in an engaging presentation by floral designer Meghan Lock, who will share expert tips for crafting stunning arrangements using fresh-cut garden blooms and seasonal market flowers inspired by the colors and textures of the season.
After the demonstration, it’s your turn to create. With expert guidance and a bounty of beautiful blooms, you’ll design your own arrangement to take home in a keepsake vase. The experience includes hands-on instruction, plenty of inspiration, and the opportunity to elevate your floral design skills in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Rustic Mountain Furniture – Past, Present, and Future

Join The Summer House by Reeves’ own Paula Jones, a true pioneer in rustic furniture making, as she gives you an overview of the store’s early days, making rustic mountain furniture, and how furniture design has evolved over the past century, reflecting changes in lifestyle, technology, and culture. In the past, she has worked with many notable clients around the country, including Robert Redford’s Sundance Ranch and George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch. Rustic mountain furniture is an integral part of design on The Plateau. Paula will walk you through how she has been able to incorporate form, fashion, and functionality with other design elements for the past 35 years.

Bluegrass, Bourbon, & Beyond, a Young Preservationist Event hosted by the Cashiers Historical Society and sponsored by Cashiers Valley Real Estate, is a lively evening designed to bring together the next generation (ages 50 and under) of community supporters in a fun, festive, and engaging social setting.
Guests will enjoy live bluegrass music by the Kooks of Hazard, a build-your-own mint julep bar, and engaging conversation on the history of bourbon led by Blade and Bow. The evening will also feature light bites from The Orchard, a shopping experience, and classic lawn games like cornhole—perfect for a little friendly competition!

Hosted by Cashiers Lake, this laid-back celebration invites guests to enjoy football on the big screen, local food favorites, plentiful beverages, and live bluegrass from the Darren Nicholson Band—all set against a stunning lakeside backdrop.
Lawn games and outdoor activities will entertain the crowd, while a bespoke bourbon bar offers a special experience to sip something memorable, soak in the scenery, and celebrate the close of another unforgettable Showhouse season.
