MOSS & FERN WALK HOSTED BY THE HIGHLANDS-CASHIERS LAND TRUST

When: Tuesday July 28, 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Where: We will meet at the Cashiers Historical Society (1940 NC-107, Cashiers NC)

Activity Description: Join HCLT naturalists for a beautiful meander through the shady moss-lined trails of Cashiers Historical Society. We will stop along the way to get a close-up look at some of the moss and fern species along the trail, learn about the biology of these "primitive" plants, and practice identification

Walking Distance/Difficulty: We will move at a leisurely pace, stopping frequently to admire and identify moss, ferns, lichens and other natural wonders along our way. The forest trail is less than 1 mile in length, mostly flat with some uneven ground, and is considered easy.

What to Bring: Water, snacks, comfortable hiking shoes, sun protection and rain jackets. Several hand lenses and field guides will be available to borrow, but bring your own if you have them.
